Ahsoka Tano Novel Coming in October 2016

Ahsoka Tano novel scheduled for October 2016 release.

If the Star Wars Rebels season two finale left you with an Ahsoka-shaped hole in your life, fear not. The former Padawan will be getting her very own young adult novel this October, according to Nerdist.Com!

Slated for an October 11 release date, E.K. Johnston’s novel will shed some light on what our favourite Togruta got up to between the end of the Clone Wars and her introduction to the Ghost crew almost fifteen years later.

Update: Star Wars: Ahsoka is out! And here is my review.

Here is what the official Disney/Lucasfilm press release has to say:

Fans have long wondered what happened to Ahsoka after she left the Jedi Order near the end of the Clone Wars, and before she re-appeared as the mysterious Rebel operative Fulcrum in Rebels. Finally, her story will begin to be told. Following her experiences with the Jedi and the devastation of Order 66, Ahsoka is unsure she can be part of a larger whole ever again. But her desire to fight the evils of the Empire and protect those who need it will lead her right to Bail Organa, and the Rebel Alliance. (Source)

Star Wars: Ahsoka is available for pre-order over on Amazon and on Amazon UK.

While it’s highly unlikely that the entire fifteen-year period can be explored in the space of just one novel, Ahsoka may answer some of the niggling questions on our minds, such as:

  • Did Ahsoka ever find out that Obi-Wan Kenobi had survived Order 66 and was living in exile on Tatooine?
  • Will we learn more about the Siege of Mandalore, Ahsoka and Captain Rex’s final mission together towards the end of the Clone Wars?
  • How did Ahsoka acquire her funky new lightsabers and how did she continue to develop her Force-wielding abilities under Imperial rule?
  • And did Ahsoka ever suspect the true parentage of Princess Leia Organa?

As a long-time fan, this novel seems a long time coming but, hey, better late than never. Perhaps one day, Ahsoka will finally get the spin-off comic series and/or feature-length film she deserves…

Update: More information about the upcoming novel can be found in our article, What We Know About the Ahsoka Novel So Far.

  1. I am so down for an Ahsoka graphic novel series, hopefully with the same level of tone and maturity as The Clone Wars eps, or Dark Disciple novel

    • Dark Disciple is easily my favourite of the new canon novels so I’d definitely be up for that. That said, I’ve been told that Lost Stars struck a pretty mature tone for a YA novel so I’ll reserve final judgement till I’ve read Johnston’s book.

Part of me would also love an Ahsoka mini-series on Netflix (15 years is a lot of time to try and cover in one novel) or a comic series (the Kanan one was a good read) but I doubt it’ll happen. Still…a fangirl can dream. :-3

  2. I will keep wishing and dreaming right along with you… ^_^ and that was an interesting fact about Lost Stars, I’ll keep an eye out for it

    • Lost Stars is still on my “to read” list so I’ll let you know what I think of it. 🙂 Currently halfway through A New Dawn (a sort of prequel to Star Wars Rebel).

      • I read it! Well, I listened to it, I used an audible promo credit to get it. I really liked it 🙂 hope you do too. It really gave Kanaan and Hera an extra dimension, it made watching Rebels more interesting too

      • It certainly does. Have you read the Kanan: The Last Padawan comics? Those gave another good little insight into his time as a Padawan and how he managed to stay alive shortly after Order 66.

      • No not yet, that one’s on my to do read list too.

Okay, i’ll be honest, a lot of them are.. but it’s on my definitely one of the next 3, haha
