There is no shortage of talented Ahsoka Tano cosplayers out there but there are probably few as dedicated as JediManda, the Kentucky-based seamstress and cosplayer who has spent the past few months researching, designing, and developing a costume based on Rosario Dawson’s portrayal of the character in The Mandalorian.
From researching fabrics to meticulously weaving armbands by hand to crafting a comfortable headpiece to mimic Ahsoka’s montrals and lekku, you can follow JediManda’s epic quest to recreate Ahsoka’s latest look via her 15-part YouTube vlog series, “Making Ahsoka Tano”.
In her vlogs, she discusses the various challenges she’s faced (such as making pleated trousers), talks about the tools, techniques, and resources she used to painstakingly recreate Ahsoka’s Mandalorian costume, and offers some helpful tips for cosplayers who wish to follow in her footsteps. She has even put together a handy tutorial for an alcohol-based makeup that can be applied using an airbrush and stencil.
And as you can see from her recent photo-shoot with Alexandra Lee Studios, JediManda’s months of toil and trouble-shooting have certainly paid off! You can find a complete gallery of cosplay photos over on her Facebook and Instagram accounts but here is a small sample to whet your appetites.

From the moody, atmospheric lighting and woodland setting to Ahsoka’s weathered cloak and trademark dual white lightsabers, JediManda has done a phenomenal job of recreating scenes from “Chapter 13: The Jedi”, in which the fan favourite Togruta made her long-awaited live-action debut last November.
You can learn more about JediManda’s cosplay creations over on her website and social media channels. And if you’re thinking of getting started in cosplay and need tips on how to research and create your first costume, JediManda’s book Creative Cosplay: Selecting and Sewing Costumes Way Beyond Basic may be the book for you!
