2020 was a harrowing year for many of us, a year which saw a new pandemic, multiple natural disasters, and political upheaval across the globe. But there were a few bright spots, including the final season of The Clone Wars, the highly-anticipated second season of The Mandalorian, the live-action debut of Ahsoka Tano, and Dave Filoni’s Christmas message to his fans and followers.
The Filoni Christmas message has become something of an annual tradition. On December 25, 2019, he posted a sketch of Ahsoka and Gandalf and insinuated that Ahsoka could still be alive during the events of The Rise of Skywalker, even though the scene on Exegol suggested that the Togruta had become one with the Force by this point in the timeline. His Christmas message back in 2018 was another homage to the works of Tolkien, specifically his Middle-Earth song “The Road Goes Ever On.”
This year, he took the time to thank fans for their support throughout the year, shared some sage advice from his mentor and the creator of Star Wars, George Lucas, and posted an adorable coloured sketch of Ahsoka and Grogu sharing a heartfelt moment together.
“On behalf of the crews of The Clone Wars and The Mandalorian, I want to thank everyone for your support this past year. It’s an honor and a privilege to be able to make stories for you, your friends and families to share.
As we head towards the New Year, I wanted to share this small bit of wisdom from my mentor: “The best way to pursue happiness is to help other people. Nothing else will make you happier.” – George Lucas.
