Introducing… All Things Ahsoka
A new year, a new name! Team Ahsoka has been rebranded as All Things Ahsoka.
A new year is always a great time for a new beginning… or a revival. Last September, I made the decision to stop updating Team Ahsoka in order to focus on other projects and, quite honestly, avoid the contentious topic of Ahsoka Tano’s live-action debut, especially when my day job and the stresses of an ongoing pandemic were rapidly wearing me down.
But after much consideration, a massive influx of new readers in the past two months, and the announcement of a new Ahsoka Tano limited series for Disney Plus, I felt it was time to bring the site out of hibernation once more and give it a fresh lick of paint. So say hello to the latest incarnation of this site, All Things Ahsoka!
I hadn’t planned on rebranding the site or renaming it but an opportunistic Twitter user managed to snap up my old @TeamAhsoka username less than a day into my self-imposed hiatus, forcing me to come up with a snappy new name for the site and its social media accounts. Several names were in the running but I eventually settled on All Things Ahsoka, a name that is both ridiculously ambitious and a nod to my other Star Wars fansite, All Things Attack of the Clones. No prizes for guessing what the main topic of that site might be.
As you will no doubt have noticed, there is currently no coverage of Ahsoka Tano’s leap from animation to live action or of Rosario Dawson’s portrayal of our beloved heroine in season two of The Mandalorian. This wasn’t due to a boycott of the series; I simply wasn’t updating the site at the time the episode was released. Furthermore, Dawson’s involvement was never officially confirmed by Lucasfilm or Disney ahead of the episode’s release and, quite frankly, I prefer not to devote too much time (or blog space) to rumours or leaks.
That said, I do plan to address the controversies surrounding Dawson’s casting in due course – you can now read about it here – and I would like to invite transgender Star Wars fans to get in touch if they want a platform to share their thoughts on the matter. I may not have the largest readership or the widest reach within the Star Wars fan community but the offer is always there.
I would like to warn readers that I will be sharing content from The Mandalorian and the new Ahsoka series on this site (this is unavoidable) but I completely understand if some readers prefer not to view content based on Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka. Content pertaining to either of these shows will be labelled as such and I will do my best to limit coverage about Dawson herself. I’m still in the process of devising a good system for handling Dawson Ahsoka content so please bear with me while I work out the details.
[Update: You can read about the new guidelines over here]
For now, I invite readers to peruse the archives for some of my older articles or follow me on Twitter, @AllThingsAhsoka. 2021 looks set to be another exciting year for Star Wars fans and I, for one, can’t wait to see what the future brings!
