‘The Clone Wars: Stories of Light and Dark’ Anthology Coming in August 2020
Relive some of your favourite moments from 'The Clone Wars' with this collection of short stories!
The Clone Wars may have ended on May 4 but the media and merchandise announcements just keep on coming! Relive some of the series’ greatest moments with the upcoming short story collection, The Clone Wars: Stories of Light and Dark.
This middle-grade anthology is a collection of eleven short stories from eleven celebrated authors: Lou Anders, Tom Angleberger, Preeti Chhibber, E. Anne Convery, Zoraida Córdova, Sarah Beth Durst, Jason Fry, Yoon Ha Lee, Rachel Roanhorse, Anne Ursu, and Greg van Eekhout. Ten of these stories are retellings of some of the series’ most memorable episodes and story arcs but the eleventh is an original tale focusing on the Nightsisters of Dathomir.
The cover features a stunning watercolour painting of an unknown clone trooper by Russian artist Ksenia Zelentsova. Zelentsova has also contributed a number of watercolour renditions of our favourite Clone Wars characters, some of which can be seen below.
And if the art featured in the April 16 edition of This Week! in Star Wars is any indication, you can expect stories told from the perspectives of Anakin Skywalker, Cad Bane, Count Dooku, Darth Maul, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, Mother Talzin, Padmé Amidala, Captain Rex, Asajj Ventress, and, of course, Ahsoka Tano. Few details are known about the Ahsoka story at present but we do know that it has been written by fantasy author Sarah Beth Durst and is titled “Almost a Jedi”. A huge thanks to Steve Dunk of TheForce.Net for checking this for me!
An excerpt from the upcoming anthology can be found over on Entertainment Weekly. Taken from Rebeccan Roanhorse’s story “Dark Vengeance: The True Story of Darth Maul and His Revenge Against the Jedi Known as Obi-Wan Kenobi”, the excerpt offers a tantalising glimpse of Roanhorse’s creative retelling of the Clone Wars episodes “Brothers” and “Revenge”.
The Clone Wars: Stories of Light and Dark will be published by Disney-Lucasfilm Press and will be out as from August 25, 2020.
