One of the merchandise releases that slipped under my radar during my social media hiatus earlier this year was the Hot Wheels Ahsoka Tano Character Car, which started appearing in physical and online stores in April 2018.
The character car’s vibrant colours and sleek design were inspired by Ahsoka Tano’s Togruta markings, lekku, and montrals and if you look closely, you’ll even spot a few aesthetic nods to Ahsoka’s headdress, Rebels costume, and white lightsabers.
According to the description on the packaging, “Ahsoka grew from headstrong student into a mature leader. But her destiny laid along a different path than the Jedi. This super-charged sports car is ready to race into action. Displaying the Rebel leader’s tribal markings and Togruta headdress, a symbol of great prowess, the vehicle launches into battle against the Empire armed with two unique lightsabers and legendary combat skills. This masterful fighter can outmanoeuvre any rival with Force-fueled jumps and Jedi-inspired stunts before speeding away to victory!”
This isn’t the first Hot Wheels car to feature Ahsoka. The toy company released a collection of “Master/Apprentice” cars last year and one of these – the aptly named “Audacious” – paid homage to Clone Wars Ahsoka and her master, Anakin Skywalker. But even that colourful tribute to one of Star Wars’ most iconic duos pales in comparison to Ahsoka’s stunning character car.
