Ashley Eckstein Tells Fans “Ahsoka Has a Future”
Writer Bryan Young caught up with Ashley Eckstein to find out what's in store for Ahsoka Tano
During one of Disney’s immensely popular Star Wars Day at Sea cruises, StarWars.Com reporter Bryan Young got the chance to chat with Ahsoka Tano herself – Ashley Eckstein – to see if she could shed any light on what Dave Filoni has in store for the character.
Unfortunately, all she was allowed to say was that “Ahsoka has a future”.
What this purposefully vague statement means for Ahsoka’s future within the Star Wars franchise is anyone’s guess. It could mean that she might appear in a future episode of Star Wars Rebels (or a future film, for that matter), or it could simply mean that we will be getting new Ahsoka stories that take place before her fateful duel with Darth Vader in ‘Twilight of the Apprentice’.
The statement neither confirms nor denies that Ahsoka survived her encounter with Vader, nor does it tell us what Filoni means by “future”. It could mean a future in-universe (meaning she could be present in some form in the OT or even sequel trilogy era) or it could mean that Lucasfilm has plans to give her her own anthology film or TV series (i.e. a future as a brand within the Star Wars franchise).
In any case, I very much doubt we’ve seen the last of this fan favourite and I look forward to seeing what exciting announcements Lucasfilm has in store for us at Star Wars Celebration 2017.
