Ashley Eckstein Answers Fans’ Questions During Reddit AMA
Highlights from Ashley Eckstein's recent Reddit AMA
She may have been rushed off her feet promoting the amazing Her Universe Fashion Show, making headlines in that incredible Ahsoka Tano Lego dress, and hanging out with fellow Star Wars fans at the San Diego Comic Con but Ashley Eckstein (voice of Ahsoka Tano) still found time in her hectic schedule to take part in a special Comic Con AMA on Reddit.
On July 24, 2016, Ashley took part in her very first Reddit AMA alongside Jennifer Tisdale of Blondie Girl Productions. Here are a few snippets of what she had to say about our favourite Padawan, the upcoming Ahsoka novel, and voice acting.

On Working with Dave Filoni
Reddit user SimplTrixAndNonsense asked if Dave Filoni ever fully answers a question (he’s developed quite a reputation!) and what it’s been like to work with him for a decade.
“Lol! No, that’s part of his strategy, to make you think and tease everyone. Dave is honestly the BEST director I’ve ever worked with. He trained under George Lucas for almost 10 years and, aside from George Lucas, he knows more about Star Wars than anyone I know!” (Source)
I personally think “tease” is an understatement when it comes to Filoni and his mind tricks. “Torture” would be more apt. 😉
On The Clone Wars & Star Wars Rebels
Reddit user I_DONT_HAV_H1N1 asked Ashley what her favourite moments from The Clone Wars were. She replied:
“My favourite episodes are the Mortis arc and the season 5 finale arc. However, one of my favorite moments was the youngling arc since we got to find out where lightsabers come from and (how they) are made.” (Source)
And when RodianFace asked which Clone Wars character she’d like to see make an appearance on Star Wars Rebels, Ashley replied:
“I’d love to know what Barriss Offee is up to!” (Source)
Yes, I’m pretty sure a lot of us would also like to know what the treacherous Offee got up to after she betrayed her friend…
On the Ahsoka Tano Novel
Reddit user Sapitoelgato asked Ashley if she would be narrating the upcoming Ahsoka Tano young adult novel. To which Ashley replied:
“I’m not sure! I’ve offered to do the voice, but I’m not sure if they will use me. I hope I get to do it!” (Source)
We hope so too, Ashley! After all, who better to narrate the audiobook version than Ahsoka Tano herself?
On Voice Acting
Reddit user Nutty_ asked what advice Ashley would give to someone who wants to get into voice acting:
“Voice acting is acting, so get into acting. Local theater, acting classes, audition for everything you can and ask fellow actors in your city about the voice acting opportunities in your area!” (Source)
On the Possibility of Playing Ahsoka in a Live-Action Film
Reddit user AmateurOutdoorsman asked whether Ashley would want to portray a live-action Ahsoka if the character ever appeared in a live-action film or TV show.
“I would love to play Ahsoka in live action if I was the right age for the role. It would all depend on how old Ahsoka is as to who should play her. I want whatever is best for the character!” (Source)
It’s safe to say that Ashley would be most people’s top choice to bring the Togruta to life in a live-action role but she has a point. If she needs any suggestions on who could play a teenage Ahsoka on screen, Zendaya and Kiersey Clemons are two actresses that come to mind.
On Ahsoka Tano
Let’s conclude our summary of Ashley Eckstein’s AMA with her thoughts on being part of the Star Wars universe and Ahsoka Tano’s meteoric rise within the Star Wars fanbase.
“Star Wars and Ahsoka mean so much to me and it’s an honour to be associated with the franchise. I’m happily surprised that Ahsoka has become so popular! Of course I’m biased but I think she is an amazing character and I’m so glad we’ve been able to watch her story develop for so long!” (Source)
“Honestly, I felt like I won the lottery when I was cast as Ahsoka. I’ve been a SW fan ever since I was a toddler. It’s such an honour to be a part of this franchise and it’s an honour that I do not take lightly. It’s truly changed my life to be a SW character.” (Source)

Ashley Eckstein as herself…and cosplaying as Ahsoka Tano
I’m sure anyone visiting this site is as biased as I am when I say what an absolutely amazing eight years it’s been since Ahsoka Tano first graced our screens. She may still be a relatively new addition to the Star Wars universe but, boy, what a tremendous impact she’s made on us and the franchise as a whole…
