The Ahsoka’s Untold Tales panel at Star Wars Celebration Europe was packed full of surprising revelations and exclusive announcements, including our first look at Funko’s new Ahsoka Pop! vinyl figure.
We also learnt that Dave Filoni has created a set of 10 digital trading cards for Topps’ Star Wars: Card Trader app. These cards feature never-before-seen artwork by the Star Wars Rebels executive producer and are boldly illustrated in red, black, and white.
All of the above images were found here. A huge thanks goes to whoever uploaded them!
According to Filoni, his card series will “start to explain visually, metaphorically” what happened to Ahsoka after her fateful duel with Darth Vader on Malachor and it’s clear that his intention is to make fans think about what her journey to the underworld may mean for her and for the larger Star Wars universe.
One fan has already taken up the challenge and has spent hours staring at the cards to try and decipher their secrets. Johnamarie of The Wookiee Gunner has put together a thought-provoking analysis of each card, drawing on real-world mythology and symbolism in an attempt to understand what may have happened to Ahsoka following the events of ‘Twilight of the Apprentice’.
It may be some time before all of our burning questions are answered but one thing is certain: Dave Filoni still has plans for Ahsoka Tano and we haven’t seen the last of her yet.
Update (15 April 2017): The Star Wars Rebels season 4 trailer that debuted at Star Wars Celebration Orlando features a mysterious white wolf-like creature. We all know that Filoni is somewhat obsessed with wolves but I can’t help but feel there’s more to that wolf than pure indulgence on Filoni’s part, especially since these creatures also appear in that last Topps card above.
Could the wolf be a messenger of sorts, one that serves as a link between the Ghost crew and Ahsoka’s spirit? Could that wolf BE a reincarnation or other manifestation of our fallen former Jedi? Maybe we’ll finally get some answers in autumn 2017…
