Another May the Fourth has come and gone in the blink of an eye. And while this year’s Star Wars Day may have been relatively uneventful in terms of special announcements or movie news, it still had its fair share of surprises.
Here’s a quick recap of some of this year’s highlights:
New Ahsoka Tano Comic by Michael Moreci & Phillip Sevy
Let’s start with something Ahsoka Tano fans might be interested in: a new fan comic by Michael Moreci titled “Touching Darkness”, which is due to be published online later this year (exact date TBA).
For those of you who may not know, Michael Moreci and fellow writer Tim Daniel teamed up last year to work on Tales from the Far, Far Away (which can be downloaded here), a professionally-made fan comic that was created to celebrate the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. With Rogue One heading our way this December, Moreci and Daniel have decided to team up again to work on five brand-new stories set in the Star Wars universe.
The Ahsoka-centric “Touching Darkness” is just one of the stories that will be included in the upcoming Return of the Tales From the Far, Far Away. Other fan favourites, such as Darth Vader, Chewbacca, and Han Solo, will also be making appearances and the volume will feature art by Phillip Sevy, Morgan Luthi, Drew Zucker, John Broglia, and Kendall Goode.
It should go without saying that Moreci and Daniel’s Tales From the Far, Far Away comics are entirely fan-made and unlicensed so this Ahsoka Tano tale cannot be considered canon by any stretch of the imagination. But since it will be published online *for free*and will feature art by the talented comic artist Phillip Sevy, who’s complaining?
Claudia Gray’s “Bloodline”
The latest Star Wars novel, Bloodline, was released just in time for Star Wars Day 2016 and has proven to be immensely popular with fans. Claudia Gray’s novel is the first novel in the new canon to explore the Star Wars universe through the eyes of Leia Organa and is essential reading for anyone who’s eager to learn more about the origins of the First Order and the Resistance, the state of galactic politics in the years prior to The Force Awakens, and Leia’s struggle to come to terms with certain family truths.
New Funko Pop! Figures
Funko and StarWars.Com announced a new wave of uber-cute The Force Awakens and Original Trilogy Pop! figures as well as a couple of retailer exclusives… which is great if you live in the USA or can find them on Ebay.
Although we’re still awaiting further news on the planned Ahsoka Tano and Star Wars Rebels figures, this new wave of Pop! figures will no doubt be a huge hit with fans of all ages.

Star Wars Celebration 2017 Dates & Location Announced
There’s still a couple of months until Star Wars Celebration Europe opens in London but America-based fans can already start making plans for next year’s event. The organizers have announced that Celebration 2017 will be held at the Orange County Convention Centre in Orlando from April 13th to April 16th, 2017.
Those planning to attend next year’s convention are strongly urged to purchase their tickets and book hotel rooms as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Tickets go on sale on May 25th and can be purchased via the event’s official website.
Dave Filoni Teasing Rex’s New Look in Rebels Season 3
While he’s still playing coy about Ahsoka Tano’s ultimate fate, Star Wars Rebels executive producer Dave Filoni treated fans to a tiny teaser of what’s to come in the series’ third season.

Many fans assumed the Jaig-eyed armour in Filoni’s initial tweet belonged to Kanan, perhaps a new mask or re-painted shoulder piece. But it turns out that it was actually a teaser of Rex’s new look in season three.
A Look at Young Han Solo’s Blaster
And on the subject of teasers, director Chris Miller tweeted a picture of a prop that should be familiar to long-time Star Wars fans: Han Solo’s trusty blaster.

The as-yet untitled Han Solo spin-off will be out in cinemas on May 25th, 2018, and, judging from the latest reports, the highly-coveted role will be played by Los Angeles-born actor Alden Ehrenreich. Head on over to Entertainment Weekly to learn more about the Hail, Caesar! star.
Daisy Ridley Wishes Fans Happy Star Wars Day in New Force for Change Video
And last but not least, actress Daisy Ridley wished fans around the world a happy Star Wars Day and offered thanks for all the money that had been raised through Lucasfilm and Disney’s charity program, Force for Change.
